in my Santa Rosa office

*Trigger Point Therapy, which was developed by Dr. Travell and Dr Nemo, can effectively dissolve the intensity of acute and chronic pain in a series of sessions.
In this approach, I apply pressure on “trigger points or acupuncture points” (painful areas in the muscle) in order to break the cycle of spasm or pain. My clients indicate what pressure they are comfortable with and I adjust my pressure accordingly.

Dr. Travell and Dr. Nemo found that “80% of acute/chronic pain in the muscles of the body was relieved with regular treatments of Trigger Point Therapy.” This has been effective with hundreds of clients over my 26 years of Massage Therapy practice.

Dorothy came into my office with severe disabling pain of arthritis in both knees.  I mainly used Trigger Point Therapy along with some Reflexology twice a week and within one month 98% of her pain was gone. I also taught her Trigger Point Therapy Self Help techniques that helped her if she felt any further pain.

From the acupuncture viewpoint, arthritis is blockage. Cellular toxins and inflammation aren’t leaving the area (for example: knee, hip, neck vertebrae) and nutrition, oxygen and life force (chi or prana) can’t come in sufficient quantity.  Dr. Travell indicated in her book that when you press down on the trigger or acupuncture point you create a relative vacuum.  When you release your pressure, oxygen and nutrients fill into the painful area. This technique reduces inflammation and pain, which clears the source of the pain.  Trigger Point Therapy works on a trigger point in the hip, as it alleviates pain there as well as releasing the referral pain elsewhere.

In the last twenty-six years, I have used Trigger Point therapy, which helps relieve acute and chronic back pain, neck pain, sciatica, knee pain and pain throughout the body in hundreds of clients. Many people experience considerable decrease in pain after only one session.  It usually it takes anywhere between one to ten sessions.  Results do vary.

In my sessions, I can combine Trigger Point Therapy along with Reflexology, the Original Chi Machine (feels great and 10 minutes on this machine equals the effect of one hour lymph massage according to one M.D.), Shiatsu (Japanese Acupressure deepens the effects of Trigger Point Therapy) and Deep Tissue Massage (for more info see my website).
